2015 Monday night Fun Fly Event Report
The Monday night club fun fly event is now history and was a great success. One fun fly event was held each Monday from June to August, weather permitting. The events ranged from spot landings to basic aerobatic. More than one quarter of our club participated in at least one of these events. Many evenings had at least 16 participants and spectators. This is quite a change from the usual minimal turnout on Monday nights.
Two things that made the events so successful were, planning events that required very limited skills and basic trainer aircraft. And our large Prize pool available to all participants. In total there were 22 members participating with 93 entries into the prize pool.
August 31st was the final event. The finale was our most challenging contest yet. Contestants we're ask to drag an 88 gram bottle of water on a 60 foot string, behind the airplane. Then take off, flight over the field as slow and low as possible, to allow the bottle to drag on the grass. The time on the ground was recorded and longest time won. Five brave souls took up the challenge and everyone survived. First year member Claude Georget won this event with an electric Apprentice!
The fun isn't over yet!
Still to come, the awarding of the Prizes at our Annual Awards Night, November 7th.
